Preview: Conference continues, Women's Championship concludes in Sweden

There are four Rugby Europe competition matches taking place this weekend and the action all starts with Bulgaria versus Moldova on Friday.

This is a men’s Conference clash and it kicks-off at 6pm local time (3pm UTC) in the Vassil Levski National Stadium in Sofia.

So far in Pool C, Bulgaria have lost one match from one and that was a 49-10 defeat in Türkiye way back in October.

They have been training hard since then and are eager to get back into action, especially at home. Bulgaria know it will be tough though because  they are currently 68th in the world rankings with Moldova 53rd.

And Moldova are top of the pool after two wins from two - a 43-13 home triumph over Turkiye in September and a 31-3 victory in Serbia in October - so will want to make it three from three.

Two further men’s Conference matches follow on Saturday.

At noon local time (10am UTC) Montenegro and Slovenia will meet in a Pool E clash.

Montenegro are third in the section going into this one having beaten Kosovo 55-10 on the road back in September and then, in early October, having been edged out 30-20 in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Slovenia are second in the pool and will want to pick up where they left off in their 74-10 triumph over Kosovo back in October.

At 3pm local time (1pm UTC) it is Pool A’s chance to get in on the action when Denmark host Latvia at Erritsø Rugby Club.

This really should be a cracking contest because these sides have both won two from two in the section so far.

Denmark go into the game having not conceded a point as they beat Finland 42-0 in October and then went even better that same month to thump Estonia 105-0.

Latvia went to Norway and won 36-19 in late October before getting the better of Estonia 62-0 in early November.

The fourth game being played this weekend is on Saturday in the women’s Championship.

Spain won the title in the four-team competition last week and the final game sees Sweden host the Netherlands at 2pm local time (noon UTC).

Trelleborg Rugby Arena is the venue as Sweden look to get their first win while Netherlands will be looking for a second win and a second place finish.

Netherlands will start as favourites and last year they defeated the same opponents 59-0 at the National Rugby Center in Amsterdam.

All games will be broadcast on RugbyEurope.TV
